Expo Background

Technology importation, assimilation, and innovation is the inevitable course for China to improve its cause of disaster reduction and emergency management.

 

In 2008, China was attacked by two huge disasters, which turned out to be great challenges to China's disaster reduction and emergency system. Having suffered the great pain, it's the urgent time for us to make up  what we lack. Developed countries as USA, Japan and european countries has accumulated rich experiences and developed mature high technology equipments through long term practice and research on disaster prevention and reduction. It is an urgent strategical task for China to learn from those countries the advanced management experiences, and import advanced disaster reduction and emergency technologies and equipments, and drive forth relative technology research and innovation in China.

Strong domestic demand

At present, disaster reduction productions and emergency productions equiped by domestic enterprises and public service units are far from enough. In some fields, the supply is even vacant. Thus, the domestic demand for advanced international disaster reduction and emergency systems, equipments and technologies is abundant. According to a primary estimation, domestic demand in the disaster reduction and emergency field amounts to 20-30  billion dollars. On the other side, as a new industrial field, disaster reduction has been attracting more and more social capital. Foreign manufactures are highly eager for Chinese market. For these reasons, this expo is going to provide domestic and foreign manufactures with scarce business opportunities and a communicational platform.

Government Support

The expo is hosted by National Disaster Reduction Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs, PRC, China Disaster Prevention Association, Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce, PRC, and has received great support from government authorities as National Disaster Reduction Association, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Technology, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Housing and urban-rural Development, Ministry of Transport, and China Earthquake Administration. The expo has also attracted personnels from relative government authorities, emergency rescue bases, rescue teams, remote sensing centers, information centers, surveying and mapping centers, monitoring centers, large-sized enterprises and research institutions, army, supervision department, policy department, public security department, and other relative professional personnels. High ranking delegations from exhibition and visiting enterprises will bring to the expo with abundant business opportunities.

Oversea Organizations' Assistance

The expo has received support from foreign government institutions and international organizations. Invitations to these institutions and organizations have been sent out by China Disaster Reduction Association, National Disaster Reduction Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs. The invited institutions and organizations will send delegations. Sino-Japan Economic Trade Center and Korean Disaster Prevention Association have announced to provide utmost support for this expo.
